Though every child is different, their development can often be standardized by a series of benchmarks and accomplishments. Monitoring these developmental benchmarks is an easy way to assure that your child’s educational needs are met at an early age to assure appropriate progress through their early years. Please visit the sites listed below to read more, or simply click on the link to the left labeled “early childhood benchmarks” under the “resource links” bar.
Somonauk School District provides developmental screenings for children aged 0-6 years old. A community screening that includes hearing and vision is done each March. Individual screenings can be arranged by calling the Director of Special Education at 498-2314 ext. 232. The screening will provide parents information regarding their child’s development. The screening will also let the parents and staff know if further evaluation of your child’s development is recommended.
