2014 Illinois Indicator 8
Parent Survey For Parents of Students
With an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)

Each year, the Illinois State Board of Education gathers information from a representative sample of parents of students with disabilities to determine how well schools throughout the state are involving parents in their child’s education.

This year, parents from our school district have been selected to participate in this survey. Since this survey is required by the United States Department of Education, your name has been supplied to Measurement, Inc., administrator of this survey. All information obtained via this survey will remain confidential and no personally identifiable information will be reported.

Parents of students with an IEP in our school district may receive the survey in the mail in the very near future. Once you receive the survey, please take a few moments to complete and submit it. Results from this survey will assist the state and our district/school with continuous improvement efforts pertaining to parent involvement. A toll free hotline (1-877-317-2733) is available through Parent & Educator Partnership (PEP) should you have any questions or concerns about completing the survey.

Fruit & Veggie Program

Thank you to the Somonauk Junior Women's Club and the Somonauk Lion's Club and an anonymous donor for donating $1,250 to J.R.W. The money is for the school to offer fresh fruits & veggies to all the students several days during lunch. Research shows that most children do not eat the recommended 5 daily servings of fruits & veggies. The goal of this program is to increase students' exposure to less commonly eaten fruits & veggies, help them try some new foods, & ultimately increase their "daily 5" intake. A special thank you also to Lynda Root and Julie Wilson for their hard work.
