Students from the sophomore class attended the IVVC Career Breakfast in Health Sciences at Sandwich High School on Thursday. Students had the opportunity to speak with industry professionals about their work, education and other day-to-day experiences in the fields. Professions that were present included medical assistant, nurse, counselor/social worker, veterinarian, physical therapist, radiologist and more.

SHS is excited to welcome our new Agriculture teacher, Kelsie Jordal, who will be splitting their time between Somonauk and Leland. A proud graduate of Indian Creek, Kishwaukee College, and Oklahoma State University, they bring a strong academic foundation to their role. An interesting fact about her is that she are a fifth-generation member of their family farm, which has deeply shaped their passion for agriculture.
Kelly Gosch, the new Director of Student Services, brings a diverse background and a wealth of experience to her role. A proud alumna of Morrison High School, Ashford University, Truman State University, and Western Illinois University, Kelly’s academic journey has been as varied as her professional path.. With a few credits left to complete her doctorate in Educational Leadership, Kelly is committed to continual growth and excellence. Her husband, Bob, is an administrator at Plano, and together they have three children. Welcome to #432!
Jacob Meyer, SHS Ag teacher, is excited to return to his roots at Somonauk High School, where he will be teaching in the very classroom where he first discovered his passion for Agriculture Education. A graduate of Joliet Junior College and the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, Jacob's journey in agriculture has come full circle.. His return to Somonauk High School promises to inspire and guide students with the same passion that once fueled his own educational journey.
Christy Skelton, a dedicated 5th-grade ELA teacher, brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role. A graduate of Sandwich High School and Olivet Nazarene University. As a military child who grew up moving across various parts of the U.S., Christy has a rich and diverse background that enhances her teaching approach. If she weren’t teaching, she would pursue her dream of becoming a marine biologist. Welcome back, Mrs. Skelton!
