The eighth grade boys basketball team lost to the Leland Panthers by a score of 35 - 29. The Bobcats went into the halftime locker room with a two point lead but they couldn't stop the Panthers #23, in the second half. The Bobcats also had issues at the charity stripe going three for twelve from the free throw line. Connor Knutson and Carson Harper combined for twenty-two out of the twenty-nine points. Evan Cappi and Wyatt Hannibal each had four steals. Wyatt Hannibal led the team in rebounds with seven and played great defense along with James Havlicek and Fenix Johnson on the Panthers top interior offensive threat. The Bobcats travel to Big Rock on Wednesday to face the undefeated HBR Royals.
Last night the 7th grade basketball team was defeated by Leland, 19-16. Heading into the 4th quarter, the boys trailed the opponent 19-9. However, the team mounted a strong comeback, outscoring Leland 7 to 0 and shrunk the deficit to 3 points. In the last 30 seconds of the game, the boys had several 3-point opportunities that would have tied it, but the basketball never quite found its way through the hoop. Liam Wold had 6 points, Emmett Hopkins had 4 points and Lukas Rafacz hit a 3-pointer from Steph Curry range. The team travels to HBR Wednesday.
The Bobcats with a 1/3 of our team out due to illness had a valiant effort versus the Lisbon Lions. The Lions defeated the 8th Grade Bobcats in a close contest by a score of 28 - 25. Connor Knuston and Wyatt Hannibal combined for fifteen points. Hannibal pulled down a team high thirteen rebounds. Landon Barry and Fenix Johnson chipped in with four points apiece. Evan Cappi shutdown the Lions top scorer defensively allowing only a bucket, from the Lions top performer. The Bobcats host Leland on Monday.
Last night the 7th grade basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Lisbon, 26-23. At the end of the first half, the Bobcats trailed Lisbon 20-11. However, in the second half the Bobcats shifted into gear, outscoring the opponent 12 to 6. Ultimately, it proved to be too little too late as the Bobcats could not complete the full comeback. However, coach Poplawski is incredibly proud of the boys' effort, hustle, and never quit mindset. Kendin Chiavario had a great game in his first start, scoring 7 points. Chase Dickmann had 6 points and 6 rebounds and Liam Wold led all scorers with 8 points. Their next game is on the road Monday as they take on Leland
The 8th Grade Boys Basketball team defeated the Paw Paw Bulldogs on the road in a hostile environment by a score of 37 - 12. Connor Knutson out scored the Bulldogs himself with thirteen points, Carson Harper was just short of double digit scoring with eight and a team leading three steals with our half court trap. Wyatt Hannibal, Fenix Johnson and Evan Cappi chipped in with four points. Cappi stifled the Bulldogs point guard with relentless defense. Kellan Howell and Eythan Fruit capped off the scoring with a bucket apiece. The Bobcats host Lisbon on Thursday.
