New Student Registration August 1, 2019 At Somonauk Middle School

Do you know someone who is new to the Somonauk community or District #432? If so, please encourage them to go to new student registration on August 1, from 5-7 pm at Somonauk Middle School. We would love to meet them! BOBCAT PRIDE!

One of our favorite days of the year. Our seniors take a last walk through the halls of the elementary school. #bobcats432 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1QItC0ZW20&t=11s

We are almost there! Currently we have 80% of our students signed up to return next year. This information is critical as we try to schedule classes and balance sections. We have left the registration window open for any others to complete the process. #bobcats432

Some of our JRW teachers finished the last session of Writer's Workshop today. They have participated in a yearlong Lunch and Learn series taught by our instructional coach, Mandy Taxis. Never stop learning! #bobcats432

Here is our sixty second supe this week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQXXtiziJh4

Due to the extreme weather at around 11:45 a.m. all District 432 schools had taken precautionary measures & students took shelter. The district has released students back to class.

This Saturday our Ag Leadership & Communications class at SHS is hosting a Pet Adoption Day! We are collaborating with Tails Humane Society to bring loving animals to loving homes! Any questions can be directed to Andrea Farrier,at farriera@somonauk.net. #bobcats432

Come join us for Walk to School tomorrow! #bobcats432

Today, Friday, May 10th, is the final day to complete Online Registration. Online Registration is completed through Teacherease. NO PAYMENT NEEDS TO BE MADE AT THIS TIME. Fees are due August 2, 2019. Online credit card payments made after June 3, 2019, will include a $1.50 service fee. Payments in cash or check can be paid in the school office. If registration is not completed you will not have the ability to see your students' schedule or their Teacher for next year when it becomes available.

There are only two days left to complete Online Registration. It is critical that we have an accurate count of students for next year as we plan course offerings at HS and MS as well as sections at JRW. No fees are due at this time. If you need any assistance contact your building secretary.

A huge thank you to Somonauk staff, Somonauk Fire and EMT's, Lake Holiday security, and LaSalle County deputies. There were no injuries and all students were safely transported to school after parents of those involved were notified. Great teamwork in an emergency situation.

During our morning bus routes this morning one of our district busses was involved in a minor accident. Somonauk Fire Department, Lasalle County Sheriffs and district administration assisted on the scene. Parents of all current riders are currently being notified and checked in the scene. We have no injuries on-site. Further updates to follow.

MAKERSPACE NEWS!
Thank you for helping our students make, create, explore, and inspire throughout this year! We appreciate all of your donations! Our most needed items are consumables (things that can’t be reused).
The Final drive item is anything consumable!
Packing tape, masking tape, painters tape, liquid glue, glue sticks, string, pipe cleaners, wooden beads, popsicle sticks, straws, paper plates, etc.
If you have any of these items that you can donate to be part of our Makerspace collection, SMS students would greatly appreciate it! Please drop off your donations in the box in the middle school office labeled “Makerspace Drive.”
** We are always in need of plastic containers to hold all of our supplies (Rubbermaid containers, plastic shoe boxes, small organizing trays, etc.)

In honor of Secretary's Day. Here is our latest 60 second supe. #bobcats432
