A Note From Principal Snider: Good Morning SMS Students, It is 9:30 am Monday morning and the school already feels empty without you! Your teachers are working hard to prepare learning experiences for you for the next several days. Please know that we are all thinking of each and every one of you. Do not hesitate to send any or all of us an email. Whether it is a question about your schoolwork or just a friendly email to say 'hi', we want to hear from you! As you navigate the next several days, please keep in mind that the goal is to always do it 'The Bobcat Way'. I am Respectful of my self, others and property. Treat others the way that you would want to be treated. Be kind to your family members, friends, and anyone else who you may interact with. Be respectful of others' space. Practice social distancing to remain healthy. Say 'please' and 'thank you' to show appreciation to others. Are your words and actions filling other's buckets or are they taking away from other's buckets? Help out around home! I am accountable for my choices, actions, words and for my learning. Everything that you do in life is a choice. Think before you act and make the right choice. You will be given school work that your teacher's have prepared for you. This is your opportunity to be accountable for your learning. Make a schedule/plan for each day. Each of you have different responsibilities at home, so make a schedule/plan that works for you. Find a daily balance in your life that includes time for learning, family, and self. Do not underestimate the importance of daily routines! I am persistent by problem solving, never giving up, and growing from my mistakes. There may be times where you have questions on your school work. Be resourceful. Always put forth your best effort. Try. Do not be afraid to make mistakes. Thomas Edison said: "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is to always just try one more time." I am Successful. Successful people look for opportunities to grow and better themselves. See this opportunity to grow as a learner and most importantly as a person. Establish a daily routine. Make others around you happy. Take the opportunity to read and write daily. Celebrate your own learning. Celebrate THE BOBCAT WAY. We cannot wait to see each and every one of you soon! Good morning, I wanted to send a reminder that pick up for 5th and 6th grade student eLearning packets is today (Monday, March 16) from 12-5 at Somonauk Middle School. eLearning packets will be located in the cafeteria and each student's packet will be labeled. Please enter through the south cafeteria doors (these are the same doors that your student would enter the building on a school day). If your student needs to gather any supplies in a locker, the hallways will be open. Additionally, Mr. Lambert has communicated with band students as to how to access band instruments. Everyone who enters the building is expected to follow social distancing guidelines. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Although our students are not able to shave their heads today, they are proudly wearing their St. Baldrick's shirts and ready to brave the shave when our event is rescheduled. We are so proud of these students for raising funds for Childhood Cancer Research.

We could not be more proud to announce that SMS raised $891.21 in our Bucket’s for Baldrick’s Tournament! That amount will be added to the district’s total raised in the fight against childhood cancer. The final round was so close and went down to the final moments of the competition. However, after a hard fought battle, the 6th grade boys were able to come out on top for the victory! They have had their sights set on winning this tournament since their second place finish last year. Congratulations on being persistent, winning the pizza party, and most importantly supporting the fight against childhood cancer!
